“All you really need is love, but a little chocolate doesn’t hurt now and then.” -Lucy

Okay, I know. A little blog entry is certainly NO substitute for chocolate. But since I delve into so many deep issues and thoughts on this blog, I thought it might be nice to have a weekly dedication to something sweet-like a treat you can look forward to after a hard week’s worth of work. Hence, the creation of weekly chocolate. Take it into your weekend and into the week ahead and a new one will be here next Friday.

Your weekly chocolate for this week: (taken from Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way)

You’ll need: 1) a piece of white, blank paper and 2) your favorite color crayon or colored pencil

Step 1: On this paper, with your crayon, write: I am precious. Treating myself like a precious object will make me stronger.

Step 2: Hang this up where only you will see it but where you will see it often. *

*Full disclosure: For many years, I resisted this kind of thing. I scoffed at it and made fun of people who did these kind of activities-anything that resembled a positive affirmation was fodder for my sarcastic ridicule. But I realized Julia Cameron was right on about a lot of things so I decided what the heck. I started doing the affirmations she advises in The Artist’s Way. I saw my whole life change. If this is too cheesy for you, I get it. Just understand that sometimes we resist the things we need the most.
