You can walk into a room and adapt to the attitudes around you, shift into the energy and decide you’re going to meld with what everyone else is doing. Sometimes, that’s actually a good way to survive.
But if the attitudes are toxic and the energy is draining, it’s probably in your best interest to actively decide to set a new temperature in the room. As the Reverend Michael Beckwith points out, there are those who accept the temperature in a room and those who decide to set it.
The latter course holds more power.
