Ever notice how, when you’re having a crappy day, everything looks glum?
The barista at Starbucks seems to glare at you, the drivers on the freeway are jackasses who intentionally cut you off, your colleagues seem to be in a pissy mood. That’s because you’ve chosen to see the world through the filter of how you feel. Because you feel crappy, you put the crappy filter on and you choose to see only the crappy stuff.
But notice how, when you’re having a great day, everything looks wonderful?
So if you don’t like what you see, change your filter. Many times the shift in mood that you’re looking for comes from broadening your perspective.

I know it may seem like that most of the time… but then there always signs when many people react in a similar fashion. I’m from india and my mother in law bitches about me a lot and the day when it reaches the height… all the people want to avoid me like plague… it’s sad how they react to me just go on her words… and then my day gets spoiled and so does my mood…

Hmmm. But regardless of how difficult your mother-in-law (and those who chose to believe her) may be, you always have a choice how you see this situation. And you most certainly have a choice about your mood. No one can spoil your day but you. And when you realize that, you’ll have regained your power.
My husband is from India and growing up, when people would make fun of him or say bad things about him, his mom would tell him, “Don’t mind them. THEY are the ones who are showing their teeth.” (And showing teeth in his culture is considered a sign of ignorance).
When people treat you badly or say bad things about you, they are only advertising *their* ignorance and *their* meanness. It actually has nothing to do with you. Choose to see things this way and you’ll realize that you’re the one who’s in control of what’s in your mind.
